Patented is a a carpet product comprising a primary backing tufted with yarn to form a face pile on one side of the backing and loop backs on the other. There is a polymer coating on the other side of the backing to secure the loop backs and a layer consisting essentially of silicate formed on the polymer coating. There is also a layer of polyurethane disposed on the layer of silicate.
